(99) How To Care for Your Prints (Updated 12-31-04)

by Robert A. Burns

To keep your prints from discoloring or fading, store them in a clear plastic folder away from extreme temperatures, high humidity, and bright light. Do not touch the printed surface with your fingers.

When displaying your prints, frame them under glass. Insist on archival-quality acid-free materials. For best results, take them to a reputable framer who knows how to handle your photos properly.

Your prints will look best if displayed in a well-lit area. Do not expose to direct sunlight.

Large prints are best viewed from a distance of at least three feet.
